Our Why
Harbor58 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working with the often marginalized and forgotten, we will offer lifelong care and support through relationships. Our goal is to launch them into society as vibrant, thriving adults.

Statistics tell us that many of these young adults are struggling:

54% will get their high school diploma (limiting most job opportunities)

1 in 5 will be homeless within 1 YEAR
-
1 in 4 will be incarcerated within 2 YEARS (limiting future housing & job opportunities)
-
71% of women will be pregnant by age 21
-
ONLY 3% will earn their bachelor’s degree (despite 70% desiring higher education)
-
50% will be unemployed by age 24

Our Plan
LAUNCH PLAN
PHASE 1
STATUS: COMPLETE
Assembling our board, branding and website.
Assemble initial “launch team”, Promotional/Fundraising Plan, Raising the initial $100,000 to begin land development.

Est. 3-4 Months to Complete
STATUS: COMPLETE
Prepare building plans and budget. Develop detailed plans for capital campaign. Begin working on the grant applications, curriculum, finding community mentors/teachers, developing our contract/application process, and mentorship training.

PHASE 3
Est. 5-6 Months to Complete
Complete the permitting process. Kick off large scale capital campaign, general fund-raising campaign, and media push. Start taking applications/nominations for our first 2-3 residents. Begin to establish community partnerships for jobs and career support.

Land development, roadways, utilities completed. We will continue to take applications/nominations and interviews. Finalize Life Skills curriculum and migrate content to online learning portal. Continue to develop community partnerships for internships/jobs. All capital campaign funds are raised.

PHASE 5
Est. 6-9 Months to Complete
Build the main house and first 2-6 cottages. Select our first (2-3) residents. Continue to develop community partnerships for internships/jobs. Finalize our online learning portal. Train 3-6 mentors. Solidify community partnerships for jobs and career support as well as life skills instructors for the first year’s curriculum.

All support services, curriculum, contract in place. Finalize all of the last-minute details, from creating welcome baskets to furnishing the homes. Any loose ends tied up to make sure that we’re ready to start.
