In memory of Lauren Agabi

Lauren Agabi was lit up any room she walked into. During her time working in child welfare, she helped countless families. As an adoption specialist for teens who aged out of the foster care system, Lauren saw first hand the need for a program like Harbor58.

What is Harbor58?

Harbor58 is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young adults leaving foster care. They provide resources and support to empower these young people to achieve their full potential. One program they offer is "MoneyTalks," a year-long mentorship program that teaches financial literacy. Through MoneyTalks, participants learn how to budget, set financial goals, understand credit, and more. They meet with mentors in group classes and one-on-one sessions, and are even incentivized with gift cards for attending and achieving goals.

In addition to its mentorship programs and other support services, Harbor58 is also working on a significant project to provide transitional housing for young adults aging out of foster care. The goal of this project is to offer a safe and affordable living environment for these young people as they transition into independence.

The transitional housing project will consist of six villas, each providing temporary housing for individuals who have aged out of foster care. These villas will offer a supportive community where young adults can develop essential life skills, build relationships, and gain the confidence they need to succeed. By providing a stable living environment, Harbor58 hopes to help these young people avoid homelessness and achieve their full potential.
